We only work with Salesforce today thanks to the CIA.
Yes — that one Central Intelligence Agency. 🔎 🕵♂️
In the late 1970s, the CIA funded a project to create a relational database: Oracle V2. The CIA became Larry Ellison's first paying customer and that contract kept the Oracle startup alive.
The CIA's venture arm - In-Q-Tel - later backed several data companies: Palantir, Keyhole (Google Earth), MemSQL, Anduril, and others.
Marc Benioff spent years at Oracle under Ellison's wing. When he left to start Salesforce, Ellison personally invested in it.
So as a matter of causal history: CIA → Oracle → Salesforce
Salesforce is experimenting with the name Agentforce.
My counter-proposal to Agentforce is simply: Cloud Intelligence Agency 😜
If Palantir and Anduril can lean into that lineage… why shouldn’t Salesforce?
