Just noticed in my feed that Spiff (Acquired by Salesforce) will be acquired by #Salesforce and become part of Sales cloud sometime between 2024 and 2025.

One of their features is Spiff Designer: in a nutshell, a highly flexible way to calculate compensation by presenting a spreadsheet-like interface where you can use formulas and column names.

That reminded me of the app to calculate compensation I co-developed around 2003 which is still in use ( https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7138379432817291266/ ).

The difference is that my client wanted to move away from spreadsheets and anything that looked like it. Maybe today they would be amenable to the spreadsheet UI that Spiff Design offers since there is probably no one from that time still there and the culture must have changed.

They wanted to assign formulas directly to physicians and nurses to calculate their individual compensation when starting a payroll.
Their compensation could depend on items such as the shift/day they worked, the number of shifts, the number of patients/RVUs and a myriad of other variables.
Once they included a number of hospitals in a payroll, the app would scan all formulas of the providers in those hospitals and calculate the compensation.

Spiff seems to be a little different in that compensation data comes from opportunities and accounts but I bet it may offer flexibility in that regard.
