John Carmack is a legendary software engineer and entrepreneur best known for co-founding id Software and leading the development of 3D game engines behind Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Quake.
These games pushed real-time 3D rendering so hard that hardware makers raced to catch up, so Carmack's feats were a major catalyst for the development of the dedicated graphics cards that power AI today.
He later served as the CTO at Oculus VR, pioneering virtual reality efforts. Today he works on his AGI startup, Keen Technologies.
