Google announced at its I/O 2026 keynote that their search will become more AI-driven and conversational. In plain words: without a link to click or where you have to read or skip the AI content to get the link somewhere in the text.
This is a trend that has been going on for a while and has already produced negative effects, such as disincentivizing tech content producers.
It has been worse for whose who produce videos since people are increasingly choosing to not learn from human-crafted content.
They also have been researching how to incorporate ads into LLM outputs.
So if you want just the search results, no ads, no AI, it is likely you will have to consider other search engines such as:
⭐ Kagi ($5/month)
⭐ Brave (free)
⭐ DuckDuckGo (free)
⭐ Startpage (queries Google without sending your data)
⭐ &udm=14 (queries Google without AI/ads)
The screens show a search using Google and the same search using the alternatives.
